YOG2002 – (C.P.H.S – Core Course) This course takes the students into a journey of exploration of yoga as enunciated in the yoga sutras of Maharishi Patanjali. The yoga sutras encode the core tenets of yoga practice and yoga philosophy in the form of short, terse aphorisms.

The foundational principles of yoga practices such as asanas (yoga postures), pranayama (yogic breath-work), dhyana (meditation), etc., are enunciated in the yoga sutras in a clear and thorough manner. One of the core teachings of the yoga sutras is the system of Ashtanga Yoga, a highly structured and carefully crafted set of eight holistic disciplines (limbs) of yoga. The yoga sutras also present a detailed analysis of the mechanics of the mind and how to transform the turbulent mind into a tranquil mind.

TAT3205 – (CPHS – Elective) The Vedas are known as the oldest books of wisdom of the world. They are the source texts of Sanatana Dharma (SD) practiced by the Hindus all over the world. Although the Vedas are revered, they are no longer studied or properly understood by most of the followers of Sanatana Dharma. Instead, the conventional viewpoint of the recent past projects the Vedas as texts that are useful only for karmas (actions) and rituals and therefore generally devoid of any wisdom.

This course will discuss both the ‘action’ and the ‘wisdom’ aspects of the Vedas. The course will show that the Vedas want to aid all people to achieve success in their lives. By spiritualizing their lives all can rise in consciousness levels and achieve greater levels of perfection in all their endeavors.

This course will also enable students to integrate Chanting of a few Veda mantras in their lives to invite the devas (cosmic energies) to their inner being and strengthen their psychological powers.
