In this Course students will learn a select set of shlokas from Adi Shankara’s Soundaryalaharii text. The entire course will be taught in the Samskrtam language. Using special handouts, select verses of the Soundaryalaharii will be expounded to unravel both the meaning of the verses and the philosophical foundations of the shaakta sampradaaya. Students will learn to think about the Soundaryalaharii from within the Sanskrit language, along with the cosmology and worldview that it represents.

Dr. Padmakumar Korattiyadath holds a Ph.D. in Sanskrit from Sri Shankara University, Kerala, India. Prior to that, he obtained his Master’s Degree in Sanskrit from Kerala Varma College, Kerala. He has also studied Hinduism, in a traditional Gurukulam setting in Kerala.
