Learn Bhagavad Geeta (Ch. 11 and 12) and Advanced Samskritam

Course Description:

In this course students will continue growing their knowledge of Bhagavad Geeta gained from the prior courses SAN1011 to SAN1033, to improve their grasp of Sanskrit Language structures, aptly illustrated through Shlokas of the Bhagavad Geeta from Chapter 11 and 12.  Students will enhance their Sanskrit writing and speaking abilities.

Using special handouts, each verse of the Bhagavad Geeta will be expounded to unravel the inner meaning of the verse as well as grammatical structures of the language.  Students will be able to more formally study Bhagavad Geeta in its native Sanskrit medium, at an advanced level compared with previous quarters.

The Yoga of the Bhagavad Gita

YOG2001 – (C.P.H.S – Core Course) This Course takes the Students into a Journey of Exploration of Yoga as enunciated in the Bhagavad Gita. In contemporary times, both the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali and the Bhagavad Gita have gained popularity as key texts of Yoga. One of the unique contributions of the Bhagavad Gita is the synthesis of Nivritti Marga (path of contemplation) and Pravritti Marga (path of dynamic activity) through Yoga.

The teachings help us understand how deep meditation and excellence in action complement each other. We will explore the various systems of Yoga such as Karma Yoga, Bhakti Yoga, Dhyana Yoga, Jnana yoga, etc., along with the key ideas underlying each system, as presented by the Bhagavad Gita. We will also refer to related teachings from the Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras.
