In the first quarter of the Proficiency Phase of the Certificate Program in Sanskrit Proficiency (SAN0401), students will embark on the final phase of the program. This phase is dedicated to the study of sandhis (coalescence of two letters coming in immediate contact with each other), which play a crucial role in the analysis and interpretation of Saṃskṛtam texts and verses. Students will learn the rules of svara (vowels) sandhis by actively practicing combining, splitting, and correctly identifying sandhis in verses. By the end of the quarter, students will have a comprehensive understanding of the svara sandhis.
