In contemporary times, both the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali and the Bhagavad Gita have gained popularity as key texts of Yoga. One of the unique contributions of the Bhagavad Gita is the synthesis of Nivritti Marga (path of contemplation) and Pravritti Marga (path of dynamic activity) through Yoga.
The teachings help us understand how deep meditation and excellence in action complement each other. Although the Vedas are revered, they are no longer studied or properly understood by most of the followers of Sanatana Dharma. Instead, the conventional viewpoint of the recent past projects the Vedas as texts that are useful only for karmas (actions) and rituals and therefore generally devoid of any wisdom.
