Dr. Kanniks Kannikeswaran

Dr. Kanniks Kannikeswaran is an internationally known musician, composer, music educator, and scholar with several recordings,  large scale musical productions, and scores to his credit. Kanniks is known primarily for his pioneering work in Indian American choral and orchestral music based on ragas. Through his work, he has built diverse coalitions between amateur and professional musicians and ensembles, Academic Institutions,  Dance companies, and more.  He has collaborated with artists such as Lakshmi Shankar and the Gundecha Brothers and has presented papers at the Madras Music Academy. He has founded and directed Indian American community choirs in over 12 cities in the US. He is a recipient of the Distinguished Alumnus Award from IIT Madras, the Ohio Heritage Fellowship, and other awards. He has taught Graduate Level Courses in Indian Music Theory and History and courses on Creativity at the University of Cincinnati.
